The Dragon We’re Fighting

I woke up and reached for my phone. It was on the floor beside my bed. I looked at the latest short-story I had written and saw I had one more view. That made 61 views so far. I had spent $5.00 on Facebook to boost the ad I made. It was going out to anyone, everyone, from 18 to over 65, primarily in the US. I looked at where I had posted it on my page yesterday. It had 219 views. So far the other 3 short-stories on my page had only one view each, my own little heart, me. Money. The Dragon wanted money.

These are the Last Days the Bible teaches us about. We are fighting a Dragon. The Dragon lives in a cave. The Dragon has a pile of shiny gold hoarded up into a precious mountain all around him. He sits in the middle of his treasure mound. He is calculating how to get more treasure. Maybe he’ll just get up, walk outside his cave, fly up into the heavens, spot another target, and with his own firey breath he will kill and steal, and gather more coveted treasure to add to the pile in his dark dark cave, his robber’s lair.

This is why God gave us 10 Commandments. God gave us 10 Commandments so those few brave heroes who loved him, who trusted him, could fight the Dragon. Gideon loved God, trusted God enough that he sent the less brave soldiers home. He just kept 300. “Not by might. Not by power. But by my spirit says the Lord.” God uses his commandments to create, build, that spirit.

Google search: “What is the significance of Gideon's 300 men in Judges 7?”

The story of Gideon and his army of 300 serves as a fantastic reminder that the faith of a few people can go a long way in changing lives around you, and even the course of history itself.

Story Overview: Gideon gathered 32,000 Israelites to fight the huge Midianite army of 135,000 men. The Lord commanded Gideon to reduce his army to only 300 men. Gideon and his small army surrounded the Midianite camp at night and, at a signal, smashed jars, blew trumpets, and yelled.”

The lesson:

The story emphasizes that God can use even the smallest and most unlikely forces to achieve victory if they trust in Him.

I took screenshots of the list of 219 people who had “liked” my latest story, so far, thinking “I’ll send this to Mark.” Mark had told me we needed to do this, “There are so many lost people, Angel. We need to go get them, to teach them, show them the way.” I am, Mark,” I’d said. I’m using my stories.” Instead of sending Mark the screenshots I came here to write this.

The story I posted was a Gideon’s call for an army. The $5.00 ad was sent out like a shofar call to God’s elect. 219 responded out of thousands. Of those 219 only 61 came all the way to read my story. Just like in Gideon’s story where the enemy forces were overwelmingly numerous and the response to Gideon’s call was smaller, but still large, it was the reduction of the final number of soldiers into a small army of 300 that God wanted.

We are the 300. We are the ones who have trusted God’s Bible, God’s Word in nature, God’s 10 Commandments. How do I know? The ad I paid my $5.00 for was a picture of a lion and a lamb lying together in a blue sky on white clouds. It said, “Good Triumps Over Evil.”

Welcome to my cave. Here’s my stories, my mound of mirrored golden treasure I’ve gathered as our bed. Here’s our Bible, here’s God’s Word gleaned from nature, here, in my mountain cave. Drink the water, God’s army, with your hands, lapping it up, showing your alertness and readiness for the battle. Scared soldiers go back home. We have a job to do.
