Mark: (We are at Spa Castle in Dallas last week.) “Are you bringing Lai to my workshop in Houston next week?”
Angel: “Maybe, I’m not sure yet. She just got her brown belt in Kung Fu, here, I’ll show you…” (I find the video on my phone and play it for him. We are discussing my 6 year old granddaughter. Mark taught her one of her first words, “Hallelujah,” when she was 4 months old. I had her on my lap as I interviewed him for my Austin Public television show. We were sitting on a dock over Lake Travis, next to the two waterfalls that fall from “The Island on Lake Travis” into the lake. I lived there with my daughter and granddaughter at the time. That same day I had said, “Teach Lai a stunt.” Mark had, he and Lai leaned out over the waterfalls (safely) while I filmed. It was a hundred feet or more from the top of the waterfalls to the lake. It made a good shot (scary but safe).
Angel: “Which movie is on your stunt reel where you are on the roof of a car and jump to the roof of another car while they are speeding down the highway? Is that “Speed?”
Mark: “Demolition Man.” (Mark was in 29 Sylvester Stallone films alone, over 180 major feature films, over 400 projects including films, television and commercials total.)
Then he starts describing when the helicopter dropped him to the roof of the speeding bus on the highway. I don’t have a clue what he’s talking about. It’s not on his stunt reel.
Angel: “What movie is that?”
Mark: “That was “Hard Justice” with David Bradley.
I still had no clue what he was talking about. Did he mean he was doubling David Bradley? Probably. A minute ago I went to YouTube and typed that in. I found David Bradley. I found the helicopter scene. Sometimes it feels like my friend is from another planet, an alien. Just when I think I know him he takes my breath away again as I realize just who this guy is. PS He is also either psychic or noticed when I posted this because as I was still editing it it popped up on my Messenger that Mark had written me. He sent me his flyer for his workshop.
