Glen @Callahan's, LongHorn & a Play

This collection begins with "Glen Collins & The Alibis" performing at Callahan's General Store in Austin. Glen is a Legend. Callahan's is a Legend. This is another point of view of Austin, Texas "Live Music Capital of the World." I lean towards Classic Rock when documenting the local Professionals of Austin because of Gabe, my Co-Producer, and his skills. My own skills are Contemporary Christian, Country, and Folk. My friend, Andy, supplies me with plenty of "Outlaw Country" musicians who like Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Marty Robbins, John Anderson, George Strait and a couple of dozen who fit their standards that I wouldn't have known about otherwise, like "Jason Boland & The Stragglers," "Mark Chesnutt," "Doug Supernaw," "Chris LeDoux," "Roger Creager," and "Pat Green."

I grew up an hour South of Nashville, after being born a 5th generation Texan, in Abilene, Texas. My parents moved back to Texas from Tennessee when I graduated from High School and settled in a small town north of Austin. My songs were from Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Church of Christ acappella harmonies, Peter, Paul, and Mary, and the early Jesus Music.

So this album takes a look at "Old School" Country Music as played by Glen Collins. He prefers Buck Owings, George Jones, and Merle Haggard and his own wonderful "Originals." Callahan's General Store is the perfect setting for that genre.

Website quote: "Callahan’s General Store opened its doors for business in June of 1978 and stands today as a tribute to its founders, the late Earl and Lucy Callahan. Not only has it become an Austin Legend, but a central Texas destination with a national and international customer base. Callahan’s General Store is a place were people gather to shop, visit and experience a true piece of Texas."

I have other videos of Glen Collins, I've already posted one where Gabriel and I stop by "The Post" in Cedar Park, Texas, north of Austin, on one of his earlier trips. Glen even says hi to me while he's singing, cleverly inserting my name into his lyrics. My friend Andy gave me the initial wisdom to see Glen as the legend he is and I've had a love and appreciation for him ever since. Glen is just nice. He's nice to me, he's nice to everyone. He makes people happy. He keeps the "Old School" Country music alive for us, which is becoming more and more rare.

After leaving Glen and Callahan's I head to the LongHorn Steakhouse, one of my very favorite places to eat. Then, my parents have invited me to a local play in the small theatre in Leander, "Way Off Broadway." I think it was called something like, "Rex's Exes." I enjoyed it and the entire day. Take a look...
